The Children’s Choir “Armonia di Voci” is based in Bergamo and has been active since 2005. It is part of the cultural association “Ars Amonica” whose aim is the diffusion of culture in general with special attention to music and song. The choir meets weekly for practice on wednesdays and is situated in the Sala Polivalente of the Oratorio San Paolo in Bergamo. The aim of the children’s choir permanent workshop is to promote: vocal, rhythmic and melodic education, voice formation and breathing techniques, evaluation of the predisposition of each young singer, use of a correct singing technique and pronunciation, the discovery of a rich and vast repertoire rangikng from classical to light music. Music and song help improve mnemonic, analitic, coordinative, cognitive and lexical capacities, stimulate the cultural learning such as reading, analysis, writing, speaking and intuition.
The children’s choir is musically supported by the Orchestra Ars Armonica in its various formations and groups.

Important occasions in which the choir performs the works they have studied during the course of the year are: the traditional Christmas Concert for Santa Lucia,  the Spring Concert and the open-air Summer Concert. Among the concerts mention may be made of: in 2005 the Christmas Concert in San Giovanni Battista Church at Mozzo (BG), in 2006 “Momento Musicale” in San Matteo Church in the Seminary of Bergamo, in collaboration with the Circoscrizione Città alta during the Mercantico; “Preludio all’Estate” in the Church of Mozzo with a repeat performance in the Church of Santa Maria  delle Grazie in Bergamo endorsed by the  Town of Bergamo; “Note di Natale” Concert of Santa Lucia in aid of the Association A.L.T Ospedali Riuniti di Bergamo. In 2007  “Serenata di Festa” at the Teatro Lottagono in Bergamo;  “Note di Natale” Concert of Santa Lucia in aid of the Association ARLINO for children with poor sight. In 2008  “Cantiamo Insieme”, a charity concert in the Church of San Paolo in Bergamo, in collaboration with the Choir of the Republic of San Marino, the Summer Concert in the Piazzale San Paolo of Bergamo on an open-air stage in collaboration with the Savoia schools. To conclude, this year’s Concert of Santa Lucia held, as by tradition, on 13th December, in the Church of Santa Maria della Grazie in Bergamo dedicated to Pope John XXIII in aid of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology of the Ospedali Riuniti of Bergamo.

This plays a role of musical support to the Children’s Choir, with the female voices. Initially composed of mothers of the children and sometimes also of fathers, it has become an important part of the programs, recreating each time an atmosphere of friendship and collaboration in a family setting, adapted for the work carried out together with the children’s choral workshop.


Rehearsals
Choir rehearsals take place once a week from September to the beginning of June, in the multi-use rooms of the Oratorio San Paolo of Bergamo:
